The Fontana dell'Acqua Paola, more simply called by the Romans the ''Fontanone del Gianicolo'', offers one of the most beautiful settings in Rome and is even more so at night when it is illuminated. It was commissioned by Pope Paul V Borghese to Flaminio Ponzio and Giovanni Fontana who thus created in 1610, one of the most visited works. The structure of the fountain, intended as a monument, consists of niches, arches and granite columns, four of which come from the ancient St. Peter's Basilica. it is also made with marbles from the Forum of Nerva. With an extraordinary charm, it has often been the location for many films shot in Rome, such as "The Great Beauty".
